Translating My Yearning for More into a New Vision

In our Midlife Magic journey so far, we’ve recognized the spark of change, embarked on a path of identity rediscovery, and learned to dance with doubt. Now, we arrive at a stage filled with a potent, creative energy: the yearning for more. This isn’t a selfish desire, but a soulful calling. It’s the universe whispering that there is a grander, more authentic life waiting for you. The magic of this stage lies in learning to translate that deep, undefined longing into a clear and compelling vision for your future.

WHAT MY YEARNING FELT LIKE

For me, the yearning for more felt like a constant, gentle ache in my heart. I was grateful for my life, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was living in black and white when my soul craved color. The yearning was vague and hard to articulate, which made it easy to dismiss. I would tell myself I was being unrealistic, that I should be content with what I had. But the feeling persisted, a quiet rebellion against the status quo.

The solution came in the form of a creative exercise that felt both playful and profound: I created a vision board. I gathered a stack of magazines, a pair of scissors, and a large poster board, and I allowed myself to dream without limits. I cut out images and words that resonated with me, without overthinking or judging. The result was a vibrant collage of my deepest desires: a woman writing in a sunlit room, a group of friends laughing on a beach, a passport overflowing with stamps. This vision board became my North Star, a visual representation of the life I wanted to create. I also took the time to write a personal mission statement, a declaration of my values and my purpose. These tools helped me to transform my vague yearning into a tangible vision, a roadmap for the next chapter of my life. Below is one of my own vision boards.
